Is Inequality Making Us Sick?

I watched the documentary Is Inequality Making Us Sick? Despite the shortness of this film it was very informative. It's really sad to see people, more so women in particular struggle the way this woman did. It's also sad to say that unhealthy food is definitely cheaper than healthier food. In the film she states that she buys more frozenfoods as aposed to fresh foods. She hss to choose brtween buying something that is good for the health of her family, and buying something that can feed and keep her family full for the small amount of money that she has. Life shouldn't be this way. How can we ever become a healthier nation if processed foods are for the poor becauset hey are cheap, but the upper crust of our society are the only ones that can afford to eat right. The figures just don't add up. I also believe that the food industry and health care industry play a major role with one another. If everyone were to eat right certain areas of bealth care would be seriously affected. Due to the simple fact that people continue to eat unhealthy diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and so much more will continue to be on the rise and certain areas of the health industry will never die. It makes you wonder if change will ever come when everyone will be able to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Bio

Hello Everyone!

My name is Shannon Rhodes and I am currently a senior majoring in General Studies with an emphasise in Health Studies and Business. I am very intrested in finding, as well as helping out with HIV/AIDS prevention studies. I also have a passion for finding ways to keep our children healthier, because they are our future. Some of my interest include eating, listening to music, watching TV, reading novels, going to the movies, and talking on the phone.

I don't really have any hobbies, but I absolutely love to spend time with my daughter. She just turned four this past December and she is so much fun. We laugh, we talk, we play, we get our nails done, and so much more. I absolutely love her to pieces even though she can have a bit of a smart mouth sometimes. What I hope to learn most out of this class is how to be a healthier woman. I want to be able to teach my daughter about every aspect of health. Not just the physical side, but also the mental and emotional side of it as well. I look forward to meeting all of you and having a great semester
